Again... how the fuck does this make sense????

"HNE does not cover cosmetic services... The primary purpose of cosmetic or beautifying surgeries.. is to improve, alter or enhance appearance or self image. They are not necessary to maintain or restore essential bodily function, or they are performed for psychological or emotional reasons."

This, of course, includes all trans-related surgeries.

But then...

"Reconstructive or restorative surgery is covered... when needed to correct a congenital anomaly and/or birth defect to restore essential bodily functions... HNE will provide coverage for: A) Reconstruction of the breast on which mastectomy was performed. B) Surgery and reconstruction of the other breast to produce a symmetrical appearance."

Now, I'm not saying that women who need mastectomies shouldn't be able to get reconstructive surgery. But wouldn't that qualify under surgeries "performed for psychological or emotional reasons"??? And just how is creating a new breast "restoring essential bodily functions"???

Ok, just felt like venting.. I'm off to dinner...
