Hoooray!
The MassResistance report on Massachusetts Youth Pride is finally up! Not that I want to encourage them by boosting their site traffic, but it's worth it for the sheer amusement. Really, how can you pass up reading about "an award for outstanding service was given to hardcore homosexual and transgender activist" and all about the "transgender prom" (which is actually the BAGLY Queer Prom)?
Oh, and a note about their claim of "assault" on a photographer. I'll repost my own report from a locked post:
A few of the hatemongers from MassResistance were there to film the events. One guy had a video camera mounted on a pole so he could film over everyone's heads. Youth organized and sat on each others shoulders, holding rainbow flags to block the camera from filming. When the man got agitated and told the youth to "back off" they calmly said, "We're not touching you. We're doing nothing illegal. You are free to leave at any time." Someone give those youth a medal!
The march was loud and joyous. At one point, we came across the man who had previously been trying to film the crowd. He met my eye and seemed to be starting to sneer, so I winked at him and the video camera. I really hope that makes their website :) I noticed most of the people passing him just waved or flashed a peace sign, even thought they were aware of who he was. Again, give the youth credit where credit is due.
So, yes, I am amused by their blatant twisting of the facts. I am not, however, amused by their promise to post photos and video of the events. They talk about "homosexual activists" putting these kids in harms way, but what the hell do they think they are doing when they post photos of youth (mostly minors) on their website without permission?
Glass houses, people... Glass houses...

P.S. For a more accurate reporting of the events, check out the Bay Windows story.

Date: 2008-05-15 05:30 am (UTC)What really pisses me off though, is the fact that they keep calling Amy Contrada's daughter "special needs". Hmmmmmm....I guess that means that the entire parade was full of "special needs" kids?
MassResistence is quite ridiculous, and I go on there right after YP to see what they have to say. It's kinda amusing at times.
